Function
As a Backend Developer at itsme®, you play a pivotal role in the expansion of the internal backend development team and the realization of the company's technological strategy. You are not only responsible for backend development but also for driving forward the ambitious plans to restructure the entire backend architecture.
You will be a key figure in a greenfield project, the development of a modern microservice architecture in Go. This presents a unique opportunity to build a scalable and future-proof backend from the ground up, implementing innovative solutions and establishing new standards.
In addition, you will contribute to building internal knowledge and expertise, an essential part of the strategic decision to bring backend development fully in-house. This shift provides itsme® with greater control over its technology, accelerates processes, enables faster adaptation to new innovations and supports the development of new functionalities and services. Your work will directly impact itsme's broader strategy, solidifying its position as a leader in digital identity and making a difference for millions of users across Europe.

Tasks and responsibilities
Software Development:
- Contribute to the development of backend systems, focusing on scalable and secure solutions, under the guidance of our Tech Lead.
- Participate in translating functional requirements into effective code, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Maintain high standards of code quality and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development practices.
Collaboration & Agile Development:
- Work closely with the Tech Lead, front-end developers, QA engineers, product owners, and architects in a collaborative Agile environment.
- Engage in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, contributing to the team's Agile practices.
- Join an autonomous team that has end-to-end ownership of the projects they work on.
Learning & Growth:
- Continuously learn and adopt new technologies and frameworks, guided by the Tech Lead and through collaboration with the team.
DevOps & Cloud Technologies:
- Support the enhancement of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, gaining exposure to modern cloud and containerization technologies.
- Contribute to deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment, ensuring high availability and resilience.
Profile
Background and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in backend development, with a focus on modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and an understanding of DevOps practices.
- Plus: Experience in Go
- Plus: Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Unitesting and CI/CD.
- Plus: Experience with cloud-native solutions and container orchestration.
- A team player.
- Good communication skills.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Languages
- You are fluent in English. Dutch and/or French are a plus.
